King Richard, is the story of Richard Williams (Will Smith), father of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams and how he launched their careers during the period of 1989 to 1994. Half of the movie had been shot at the point the film industry shutdown in mid-March due to the pandemic. It was scheduled to be released in November 2020, that has now been pushed back one year to 2021. The production resumed in late September 2020 and wrapped in mid-December, with some additional re-shoots I've just contributed to in May 2021.
I'm a month into a new film version of The Boston Strangler. The film is written and directed by Matt Rusk and will star Kiera Knightly as Boston Record-American reporter Loretta McLaughlin.
From June through early October I had the pleasure of working on Damian Chazelle's new film Babylon set at the end of the silent film era as the talkies came and disrupted the industry and stars' lives. The film stars Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. I was hired to over all of the movie poster, magazine and publications covers as well as do quite a few photo compositing and retouching projects. The film will have a limited release in late December 2022 with a wide release in January 2023. Until then I can't share my work, but am very eager to do so. This was the most fun I've had designing in a very long time!
During the Winter of 2021 I spent a month doing graphics for a new series on the American civil rights era called Women of the Movement. The series was produced by CBS TV for airing on ABC in early January 2022. The story follows the horrific lynching of Emmett Till, and the subsequent murder trial of the accused in 1955 Mississppi. The series filmed in Greenwood, MS where The Help was also produced.
